Common applications
Aluminium laminated rolls are the workhorse of Indian flexible packaging. The structure — PET on the outside for sharp print and abrasion resistance, metallised PET in the middle for barrier, LDPE on the inside for the heat seal — is what almost every branded namkeen, masala, tea, and aromatic SKU is packed in. We supply this roll format to Form-Fill-Seal lines across East and North India, slit to your machine's web width and printed in your brand colours up to 8 colours in a single rotogravure pass.
This page is the canonical hub for our laminated rolls range. The 2-layer value-tier alternative — [Milky LDPE laminated rolls](/products/milky-roll) (opaque white, lower per-Kg cost) — is linked from the side-by-side comparison further down.
What an aluminium laminated roll is, layer by layer
Three layers. Each does a specific job in the barrier stack.
- PET (outer). The print substrate. Rotogravure ink sits on the underside of this layer, which protects it from abrasion on shop shelves and during transit. PET also adds tear strength to the pouch and gives the laminate dimensional stability on the FFS line.
- MET PET (middle). Metallised polyester — a thin vapour-deposited aluminium coating on a PET carrier film. This is the barrier layer. It reflects UV and visible light (stopping print and product degradation), blocks oxygen transmission (preserving aroma and shelf life), and resists oil migration (preventing grease bleed-through on fried snacks).
- LDPE (inner). The heat-seal layer. Reliable sealing temperature window, food-safe contact surface, and selectable grade — Natural for general FFS, N/F for high-speed lines or specific sealing-jaw profiles.
The three layers are bonded with solvent-less polyurethane adhesive in two laminations. The bond chemistry is matched to the substrate stack so the laminate stays flexible at storage temperatures across the Indian climate range.
Aluminium MET PET vs Milky LDPE
We manufacture two main roll structures for branded retail packaging. Each is the correct answer for a different brief.
Aluminium / MET PET (this page) — the premium 3-layer default
PET + MET PET + LDPE. Full barrier against aroma loss, oxygen, UV, and moisture. The right pick for tea, ground masala, aromatic spice blends, premium namkeen, snack SKUs with high oil content, and any product where the brand promises a long shelf life on the pack. Slightly higher per-Kg cost than 2-layer films; pays back through shelf life and brand consistency.
[Milky LDPE laminated rolls](/products/milky-roll) — the 2-layer value structure
PET + Milky LDPE. Two layers, opaque milky-white inner film. Strong UV block, clean white print substrate, lowest per-Kg cost of the three. The right pick for atta and other dry staples, batter pouches, milk powders, detergents, fertilisers — categories where the customer chooses on price and the print needs to read clearly on a white background.
Send us the product, shelf life target, and price point you are working to; we recommend the structure that fits the spec sheet rather than the structure that fits a vendor margin.
Common applications
Aluminium laminated rolls feed the FFS lines across these category leaders. Each linked page goes deeper on format, MOQ, and structure choice for the category:
- [Namkeen packaging pouches](/applications/namkeen-packaging-pouch) — the 3-layer default for branded fried snacks, mixtures, and chana jor garam.
- [Masala packing pouches](/applications/masala-packaging-pouch) — ground masala, spice blends, garam masala, chaat masala. Aroma retention is the spec driver.
- [Tea packaging pouches](/applications/tea-packaging-pouch) — black, green, masala chai, and single-estate tea. The category that benefits most from MET PET aroma containment.
- Fertilizer packaging pouches — UV barrier and moisture resistance for agri-input SKUs.
The roll is supplied either as a slit-to-order roll for in-house FFS, or converted by us into pre-made pouches in the format your line needs.
Print and finish
Rotogravure print on the PET outer layer, up to 8 colours in a single pass.
- Spot brand colours alongside CMYK + white.
- Gradient illustrations that need additional process colours.
- Registered matt and gloss finishes where the matt areas align precisely with the artwork.
- The standard finish on this structure is glossy; matt overprint varnish is available as an add-on.
Print sits inside the laminate — sandwiched between the PET and the MET PET — so it survives abrasion, shelf handling, and any condensation on the outside surface of the pouch.
Roll widths, GSM, and core specs
- Roll width: slit to your FFS machine's web width. There is no standard SKU width; each order is slit to spec.
- Core ID: 76 mm (3 inch) standard. Other core sizes available on request.
- Print colours: up to 8.
- LDPE grade: Natural or N/F, picked to match your sealing-jaw profile and line speed.
MOQ and lead time
- MOQ: 300 kg of laminated film per SKU per design.
- First-run lead time: 20–30 working days from artwork sign-off (most of this is cylinder engraving).
- Repeat order lead time: 10–15 working days because cylinders are ready with us.
Indicative only — the formal MOQ and lead time for your order are stated in the quotation we issue.
Why brands choose us for laminated rolls
- One roof. Printing, lamination, slitting, and pouch conversion all in-house at our Madhyamgram facility — tighter QC and faster turnaround than a multi-vendor chain.
- All three laminate structures from the same supplier. MET PET, MET BOPP, and Milky LDPE rolls produced on the same lamination lines — switch between structures between SKUs without changing suppliers.
- Up to 8-colour rotogravure for sharp brand graphics — spot colours, gradients, and registered matt finishes in a single pass.
- Trusted by namkeen, masala, tea, and snack manufacturers across East and North India.

FAQ
What is the MOQ for aluminium laminated rolls?+
Standard MOQ is 300 kg of laminated film per design. Roll widths are slit to your FFS machine's web width on the same run; the MOQ is per design, not per width. The formal MOQ for your order is stated in our quotation.
Why a 3-layer aluminium laminated roll over a 2-layer film?+
A 3-layer PET + MET PET + LDPE construction puts a metallised polyester layer between the print substrate and the heat-seal layer. The MET PET acts as a barrier against oxygen, UV, and aroma loss — three failure modes that compound over a 6–12 month shelf life. For tea, ground masala, aromatic spice blends, snack SKUs with high oil content, and anything sold through a long supply chain, 3-layer is the safer default.
Aluminium MET PET vs MET BOPP vs Milky LDPE — which roll do I pick?+
PET + MET PET + LDPE is the 3-layer premium default — picked when aroma and shelf life matter (tea, masala, premium namkeen). PET + MET BOPP is a lighter 2-layer with a glossy metallic look at lower cost, fine for short-shelf-life snack SKUs. PET + Milky LDPE is the value-tier 2-layer for staples like atta, milk products, and detergents where the print needs an opaque white background but you do not need a full barrier. Cross-link to each from our [products index](/products) to compare specs side by side.
Are these rolls compatible with my Form-Fill-Seal machine?+
Yes. We slit the laminated roll to your FFS machine's web width and select the inside-layer LDPE grade (Natural or N/F) to match your sealing-jaw temperature and dwell time. Tell us your machine model and current film spec; we match it on first run and document it for repeat orders.
What roll widths and core sizes do you offer?+
Roll widths are slit to order — there is no standard SKU width. Standard core ID is 76 mm (3 inch); other core IDs are available on request. Typical roll diameters fit standard FFS unwind stations; we confirm the OD per your line in the quotation.
What is the lead time on a first laminated-roll order?+
Typical first-run lead time is 20–30 working days from artwork sign-off — most of that is cylinder engraving. Repeat orders take 10–15 working days because the cylinders are ready with us. The formal lead time is stated in our quotation.
